Pyorrhea is an inflammatory disease of the gums caused by a build-up of bacteria in the mouth. This accumulation of bacteria causes what is known as plaque, a sticky, yellowish film that usually appears between the junction of the gum and tooth. In the worst case, dental pyorrhea can lead to tooth loss. For this reason, it is very important to see a dentist before symptoms of gingivitis appear.
